Job Description

Job Summary:

  • Under limited supervision, performs as company technical service representative on base or remote locations including customer platforms (shipboard and aircraft) and facilities.

  • Advise and assist customers and contractor personnel of FLIR Surveillance recommended methods and techniques for maintaining electronic equipment on select platforms.

  • Determine and recommend products or service solutions that best fits the customers’ requirements.

  • Conduct operator and maintainer training of electronic systems for service technicians and operators/end-users as required.

  • Analyze product failure and recommend and implement solutions to enhance product reliability.

  • Assist in development of processes and procedures to support the servicing and maintenance of electronic equipment.

  • This position will also assist in conducting integrated equipment systems tests.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high level repair, diagnosis, service, support and upgrades to all land-based, airborne and maritime products.

  • Assist Engineering in development and implementation of system upgrades and engineering change orders (ECO).

  • Develop standard repair and maintenance procedures and document to company standards.

  • Provide technical and administrative support in the management of field service inventory, to include establishing requirements for contents and quantities.

  • Perform customer interface either in person or via telephone or electronic media regarding technical issues, repairs, or information.

  • Prepare lesson plans and perform training of customer personnel in the operation and maintenance of FLIR Surveillance equipment.

  • Conducts both on-site installation of equipment and isolation of equipment start-up malfunctions.

  • Takes corrective action by following established testing procedures to ensure proper working order.

  • Represents the company in dealing with the customer (including equipment demonstrations) and takes responsibility for customer's satisfaction with equipment.

  • Provides leadership and trains technicians as required.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of training programs for service technicians, field service personnel and/or customer maintenance personnel.

  • Repair select systems in a shop environment when travel schedule allows.

  • Performs other job related duties as required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Candidates with an Associate’s Degree plus specialized electronics or military training will be considered.

  • Specialized infrared or thermal imaging technical training or equivalent experience required.

  • A minimum of three years infrared or thermal imaging field service technical repair experience.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills required.

  • Must be able to work independently as well as with different levels of management and staff, both internally and externally.

  • Ability to travel on short notice both domestic and international.

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lb.

  • Aircraft and Powerplant (A&P) License desired.

  • Position is located at North Billerica, Massachusetts facility, with a requirement of travel from MA approximately 50-60% of the time to field assignments.
