Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Currently in training to set up and operate CNC Lathes or Milling machines according to ODI procedures.

  • Read and interpret critical dimensions on engineering blueprints.

  • Understands basic tooling on the machine and how to evaluate wear limits and change as required.

  • Responsible for dimensional and quality requirements of components.

  • Can demonstrate a working knowledge of precision measuring equipment to evaluate work on the assigned machine.

  • Responsible for keeping the Work area and equipment Safe, Clean, and Organized.

  • Must wear PPE at all times and assure all employees and visitors adhere to ODI Safety guidelines and procedures.

  • Must communicate with leads, supervisors and planners daily to assure routers and schedules are accurate.

  • Properly log and track setup and run times manually and on the manufacturing shop floor system module.

  • Proactively identify and implement ways to reduce set up times and then communicate such that routers and schedules reflect the improvements.

  • Play an active role in regards to “Lean” processes by working and communicating with Planning, Quality, and Peers to identify and implement ways to improve flow to increase throughput.

Education and Experience :

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1-3 years experience in CNC Lathe or Mill operation or verifiable experience in an Apprenticeship program

  • Experience in an Engineer-to-order or Make-to-Order shop environment

  • Experience, Training, and understanding of “Lean Manufacturing Principles” a plus

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Proven ability to read and understand blueprints

  • Working knowledge of MSOffice programs, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Commitment to high quality standards and continuous improvements

  • Team Player

  • Proper and Safe operation of assigned manufacturing machine

  • Proper use of precision measuring tools

  • Attention to detail
