Job Description

Job Summary:

This position is located at our facility in Hampton, Virginia.

It supports quality inspection and objectives of the organization in a management capacity by developing, implementing and maintaining quality assurance systems and activities. Develops, implements, and coordinates product assurance program to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Assignments tend to be of moderate complexity, diversification or expense. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and process to meet goals outlined. Normally receives instructions on new projects or assignments.

Detailed Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

  • Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change.

  • Meets quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

  • Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.

  • Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.

  • Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.

  • Needs to ensure compliance to applicable ISO standards.

  • Conduct various site audits for quality and compliance to site/company procedures/policies

  • Conduct customer surveys

  • Initiate corrective action requests (CAR) as necessary

  • Work with Service to qualify the validity of warranty claims

  • Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; initial approval and continual monitoring of vendor / supply stream participants; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.

  • Functions as the Training Coordinator for all employees within the facility

  • Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.

  • Updates job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has supervisory responsibilities and/or to management responsibility to the process. Manages subordinate supervisor, staff employee(s), and/or process and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of same. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related positions and 2-5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Essential Duties

  • Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen

  • Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…)
