Job Description

The Technical Director, RF and Microwave Technologies will lead the RF&M engineering organization to execute a well-defined business plan through facilitation and hands-on oversight. The leader will partner with the COO and General Manager in developing and executing strategic initiatives in driving growth. S/He is expected to provide thought leadership, influence and hands-on engagement in order to develop, direct, and implement the innovation agenda for Teledyne’s Microwave Solutions Group.

The role is based onsite in Mountain View, California.

Detailed Description

  • Lead the development of the Division’s product/technical roadmap, and strategic technology development and help identify building blocks to achieve the roadmap.

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

  • Drive complex development programs while ensuring compliance and adherence to internal processes and regulatory requirements. Responsible for the phase-gate design process and lead or facilitate associated Business, Program and Engineering Reviews to measure and drive progress.

  • Engage with the customers during engineering and regulatory reviews and business development activities.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to help develop compelling bids and proposals that are customer centric.

  • Uses competitive and business intelligence to identify market leading solutions that are internally tested for feasibility through a robust process of initial design reviews.

  • Identify KPIs that allow for adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards and use expert judgment to balance the trade-off between technical and financial KPIs.

  • Plan and facilitate resource requirements, allocations and hiring to support current and future requirements based on inputs from the Engineering Managers and Directors.

  • Own technical oversight of Engineering groups. Maximize the productivity of the groups and cultivate the development and career growth of direct report employees and subordinates.

  • Drive a sense of urgency and accountability within teams laying emphasis on the importance of timely execution and in doing so promote ownership of responsibilities to ensure successful and timely delivery.

  • Helps institute internal processes, reviews and lessons learned and use it as opportunity to help the team and organization develop, learn and drive continuous improvements.

  • Act as a change agent and leads by example in driving a culture of accountability, collaboration, and a sense of urgency.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. A master’s degree is a plus.

  • 15+ years of directly related experience in RF & Microwave field

  • Direct hands-on experience designing complex integrated microwave assemblies and successfully launching them into production.

  • Knowledge of EW, RADAR, Communications, and system-level functional performance requirements and applications of RF & microwave technology into these markets.

  • Excellent communications and leadership skills required. The ideal candidate will excel in building a team and fostering a collaborative team spirited work environment.

  • Business and financial acumen sufficient to develop and manage budgets, forecasts and investments for the engineering function; ability to comprehend broader business strategies and challenges.

  • Excellent personal leadership, change management and ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally.

  • Must either hold or be able to obtain a SECRET level security clearance in a timely manner.

Salary Range:

$218,900.00-$293,480.000
