Job Description

Teledyne Advanced Pollution Instrumentation (TAPI), a business unit within the Environmental and Electronic Measurement Instruments group within Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY), continues to be the global leader in the manufacturing of advanced instrumentation for monitoring of atmospheric pollution. We design, manufacture and market precision gas analyzers and air quality monitoring products both domestically and internationally.

Job Summary

Performs routine tests of circuits, instruments and mechanical assemblies to ensure unit functions according to specifications or to determine cause of failure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reads test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.

  • Sets up devices using hand tools or automatic test methods.

  • Documents test results.

  • Maintain logs and records indicating if there is a malfunction.

  • May perform simple repairs and/or component removal or replacement.

  • Testing and calibrating instruments.

  • Performs go/no-go tests of circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies.

  • Sets up test devices using hand tools or automatic tests methods. Document test results.

  • May perform simple repairs and/or component removal or replacement.

  • May maintain logs and records indicating malfunctions.

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma and 5-10 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Completion of high school required, associate degree with emphasis on electronics or related field of study preferred.

  • Requires intermediate level experience in simple repairs or component replacement.

  • Must be able to proficiently communicate both verbally and in writing. -Must be able to proficiently add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

  • Must have experience and demonstrate proficiency with electronic equipment (Oscilloscope's and Muti-Meter)

  • Working knowledge of established drawings and experience in soldering, wire wrapping and cable harnessing.

  • Working knowledge/experience of BOM’s, schematics, engineering drawings.

  • Must be able to proficiently utilize standard hand tools such as but not limited to screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, and crimpers.

Physical Requirements

  • Moderate lifting (chassis/instruments) up to 35 lbs. unassisted and may be required to participate in team lifting at times.

  • The position will also require the ability to stand for long periods of time, constant rotation of movement, such as, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, reaching, and squatting.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to enter time and data into a computer system.

Salary Range:

$41,800.00-$55,880.000
