Job Description

Summary and Responsibilities

Teledyne Storm Microwave, a leading manufacturer of RF/microwave cable assemblies, is looking for a person with a background in one of the following: Toolmaker, Machinist, Die Maker, or Mold Maker to work in the Model Shop of our Woodridge, IL facility.

The person builds special tools, fixtures, prototype connector parts, and custom machine parts to support production and R&D projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Building new tools and fixtures as well as repairing existing ones per drawings and sketches.

  • Building/modifying low-run production items as needed to support orders.

  • Building prototypes of new products or modifying existing products.

  • Supporting engineers in design for manufacture, materials selection, heat treatment, surface finishing, plating and drawing tolerances.

  • Performing preventative maintenance on shop equipment (mills, lathes, grinders)

  • Working with purchasing to order shop materials and tooling.

  • Independently programing using MasterCam is a plus.

  • Independently setting up and operating Haas Mini Mill is a plus.

  • Experience using Hardinge Tool Room Lathe and Bridgeport mill is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 2 + years experience performing machining operations production or R&D environment

  • Formal technical training or apprenticeship is a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Must be mobile enough to move about the plant as needed to operate various machinery, pull, and move inventory, goods, and product.

  • Lift, move and carry parts, bins, boxes, spools, etc., weight varies.

  • Handle and assemble very small piece parts working both hands independently to complete complex assembly operations.

  • Must possess intermediate math skills such as but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, conversions, some algebra, some trigonometry, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Must be a U.S. person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)
